I make my art with my mind and my eye and my emotion.

Conflict creates energy!

From my earliest days of making art I considered myself to be motivated by things organic in nature.  To this day I continue to find great inspiration from the human form….female form in particular.  Concurrently, I love studying inorganic forms.  Stream washed pebbles, massive naked cliff faces and monumental boulders that lie at the ocean’s edge, all seem to find their way into my clay forms.

There is an incompletely defined conflict that exists in my own clay pots – the conflict of forms that are inherently of an organic nature and surfaces that are influenced by geological movements.  This conflict is what I feel brings a living energy to my work.  I continue to battle with this conflict… but in essence I hope that I might never resolve those issues.
